Uses

Minirin (Desmopressin Acetate) is prescribed to patients to treat the symptoms of diabetes insipidus, such as excessive urination and thirst. It can also be used to help treat bed wetting in children, nocturia in adults, and frequent urination caused by certain brain injuries or surgery. In addition to these uses, this medication has also been used to treat hemophilia and von Willebrand`s disease. It works by replacing a hormone called vasopressin, which is responsible for helping to balance the amount of salt and water found within the body.

Dosage and Administration

Patients taking Minirin (Desmopressin Acetate) tablets are commonly prescribed one 0.2mg tablet, to be taken either 2 or 3 times per day. To treat and prevent bedwetting, patients usually take one tablet per day, at bedtime. The correct dosage for children is different to the typical adult dosage. It is important to be aware that the dosage varies considerably depending on the patients age, medical history, and their response to any previous treatment. As a result, dosage should always be determined by your physician and should patients should only dose as prescribed.

Side effects

Patients may notice some side effects while taking Minirin (Desmopressin Acetate), such as:
