Description

Uses

Daivobet Gel (Calcipotriol/Betamethasone) is a topical corticosteroid prescribed to patients suffering from mild to intermediate plaque psoriasis. It operates by suppressing immune responses that cause the pain, irritation, swelling, and redness associated with this condition. This medication may be used along with other treatments or for other unlisted conditions.

Dosage and Administration

Follow your physician`s instructions for using Daivobet Gel (Calcipotriol/Betamethasone) to ensure the safest and most effective results. It is normally administered once each day on the affected area, but your individual instructions will be determined by your current health condition, the severity of your symptoms, and response to similar treatments. Do not self-medicate as abuse or misuse of the gel may lead to unexpected health problems.

Before applying the gel, thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water. If you are treating scalp psoriasis, comb the hair to remove any loose scales, tilt the head backward to prevent any gel from running into your face or eyes, put a small amount of gel on your finger, and gently massage it into the affected area of the scalp. Wait several minutes before washing the hair to remove any remaining gel. If you are using the gel to treat other areas of the body put small amount of gel on a finger and gently rub it into the affected area until a small film is left. Do not cover the area to allow any excess to evaporate while washing your hands with soap and water to keep it from coming into contact with areas not being treated. If the gel contacts your eyes, wash them out thoroughly and inform your physician as soon as possible. You are also recommended to use the doses at the same time each day to get the most efficient results by keeping a constant level of medicine on the skin at all times.

Attend regular consultations with your physician while undergoing treatment to make sure you are experiencing the correct results from treatment. After observing your response to the gel, you may be instructed to adjust your frequency of medication or make other alterations to your regimen until the best results occur. If you have any questions about the medicine, ask your pharmacist or physician to ensure the correct administration.

Side effects

Some patients using Daivobet Gel (Calcipotriol/Betamethasone) may experience some side effects. These will not occur in all users and may range from mild to severe. If you do experience any unusual symptoms, tell your physician immediately so that the correct adjustment can be made. These may include reducing your dosage or application frequency to prevent further complications. More serious cases may also require emergency medical attention.

Side effects that may occur during treatment include:

  • Pain, swelling, irritation, or redness at the site of application
  • Change in skin pigmentation
  • Greater sensitivity of the skin to light
  • Rash appearing on the face or body
  • Increased calcium or blood in the urine
Precautions

Do not begin using Daivobet Gel (Calcipotriol/Betamethasone) if the patient is a child, allergic to calcipotriol or betamethasone, has had a bad reaction to similar treatments, pustular psoriasis, high calcium levels in the blood, damaged or broken skin, ichthyosis, viral skin infections, fungal skin infections, bacterial skin infections, tuberculosis of the skin, rosacea, or serious liver or kidney disease.

Inform your physician if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or if you have any other conditions that may cause complications with treatment as these may require reduced frequency of administration or other adjustments to prevent these potential problems from occurring.
